During the 1980's the Greg Francis Orchestra featured almost daily on BBC Radio 2 and later, on BBC TV's 'Primetime'.
Greg's preferred genre of music has always been that of James Last and Bert Kaempfert. Also during the 80's, Greg was fortunate to conduct and arrange this style of music for the NDR Orchestra in Hamburg (North German Radio Orchestra) and, since many of the musicians were also members of James Last's orchestra, Greg got to meet his hero on several occasions, backstage at concerts, and at his 'fan club parties' in Hamburg. Following the sad passing of James Last in 2015, Greg decided to produce a Gala Concert tribute show for his favourite musician of all time, to simply keep the music alive. In 1990, Greg recorded 70 titles of Last's music for the German background music company Reditune-Thorsen. And so, having those music arrangements to hand, he has compiled a full 2 hour concert of the music. He has also utilised the orchestra line up which James Last used during 2009.
The concert tour is scheduled to run from October 2016 'in a theatre near you' in the Uk. The Gala Concerts will extend to Europe and the USA during 2017.
