Sexuality Education |
|
For many parents, sexuality education can be a difficult topic to discuss. Sexuality education is not just about sex, and it should start far before puberty. For their own protection, individuals with autism must receive sexuality education – and receive it sooner – to decrease their risk of abuse and exploitation.
Objectives: * Review core features of ASD that inform how we address sexuality education. * Identify key areas of focus on this topic and provide examples of ways to break down these areas into teachable segments. * Identify best practices and resources for teaching skills and concepts related to sexuality. |
