We all know about Rani Lakshmi Bai, the Queen of Jhansi who fought for independence of India during the Revolt of 1857. Her story is an inspiration for all of us.
Rani Lakshmi Bai, popularly known as Jhansi Ki Rani, was born as Manikarnika in Bhadaini District of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Her father trained her as a warrior when she was quite young. When she became the Queen of Jhansi, fought for its independence against the British, who acquired Jhansi as per their policy of Doctrine of Lapse. Dressed as a man, Rani Lakshmibai fought a fierce battle with British in Gwalior, and was martyred in combat.
