Chickpeas, or garbanzo beans, are a type of legume. The most common type has a round shape and a beige color, but other varieties are black, green, or red. Compare to other legumes, chickpeas are large. When soaked or boiled they grow to three times bigger, make them difficult to ferment.
In my previous video, I showed you how to make chickpea tempeh the easy way. Now, I want to introduce making chickpea tempeh the best way. It will include de-hulling and bean splitting. The hulls will be removed and the beans are split into halves to make them easy to ferment. The method will add 15-20 minutes more work but it’s worth it, and the result is amazing.
