Azores Terceira Volcano Update; Alert Level Raised, Earthquake Swarm |
|
Due to the news surrounding a new magmatic intrusion just north of the Geldingadalir volcano in Iceland, news about a different volcano which also produced seismic unrest largely went under the radar. In the Azores, the Terceira volcano had its alert level raised from V0 to V2 due to an unexpected swarm of low magnitude earthquakes. Although still up for debate, I interpret these signals as hydrothermal in origin. This video will discuss what that means, and what might happen next at the Terceira volcano.
