High school student Gabriella Swerdlin discusses the concept of implicit bias and our ability to reduce it. She argues that the brain is malleable and that we can change the way think. Gabriella challenges us to examine our ideologies in order to be more open and flexible thinkers. Royalty Free Intro Music: “Stay (Sting)” by Otis McDonald. I am a junior at Lake Forest High School. I have a lot of love and value for the culture and religion my parents have passed down to me, and a large part of my outlook and perspective on life comes from that. I think it is extremely important for people as a whole to work on truly thinking for themselves, because when they don't, extreme violations of humanity can take place. I am thankful for people and activities that challenge me and force me to grow like discussions with my brother, parents, and friends, dancing, and giving a TEDx talk. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
