The famous historical love story of Sohni Mahiwal plays an important role in folk stories. Sohni was the daughter of Tulla komar living in the city of Gujrat. Mahiwal was the Ashiq of Sohni.
Sohni had been crossing the chenab river and Sohni drowned in the River Chenab. Mahiwal jumped in Chenab river to rescue her but both were drowned.
