We often hear the phrase "The Best Year of Your Life" at the Command and General Staff College. It's referenced in speeches, lectures or in the hallways, but what does it really mean?

In this video the Training and Doctrine Commanding General and former Commandant of the Command and General Staff College, Gen. David Perkins, addresses the deeper meaning of the phrase - The Best Year of Your Life.

Gen. Perkins explains that this year is the year that the Army gives you to prepare for the rest of your life. It's the year to take advantage of all that Fort Leavenworth has to offer in terms of doctrine, professional development, and your time away from the "motor pool."
