DEA Red Ribbon Week |
|
Red Ribbon Week (October 23 – 31) is a time to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities. Join the Illinois Liquor Control Commission and learn about the DEA’s Red Ribbon Week and ways to engage the ILCC or the DEA to help keep kids healthy and safe.
Students can earn money for their schools through the Red Ribbon week contests (https://www.redribbon.org/). Youth in scouting organizations can earn the Red Ribbon Week Patch (https://www.getsmartaboutdrugs.gov/get-involved/red-ribbon-week-patch-program). To earn the DEA Red Ribbon Week Patch, you must complete the following: 1. Each scouting unit or troop must coordinate a Red Ribbon Week activity in the community or school. Suggestions are available on the website - there is a Scout Leader Toolkit. 2. Each scout must attend a drug use prevention education session - This webinar can serve as the education session. 3. Each scout must take the DEA Drug-Free Pledge. I make the following pledge to stay drug free: I pledge to stay in school and learn the things that I need to know. I pledge to make the world a better place for kids like me to grow. I pledge to keep my dreams alive and be all that I can be. I pledge to help others and to keep myself drug free. I know that I can achieve my dreams and live my life as I choose because of my pledge to stay Drug-Free. 4. The scout leader must submit the “Activity Report” upon completion of program requirements, no later than November 30. |
