Tillman Benfey: Salmon Aquaculture (Business)

video thumbnail
Aquaculture is now an important part of the economy for New Brunswick, especially along the Bay of Fundy shoreline. Farmed salmon makes the news for both good and bad reasons. How much do we understand about one of our main food exports?

Tillman Benfey is a specialist in aquaculture and specifically genetically modified salmon. His expertise helps us to understand the science and safety connected to farming salmon. Our conversation has some technical elements, but offers all of us a clearer understanding of what "genetically modified" means, how it is done, the safety of the salmon we eat, and the connection to environment. Important to listen and understand what salmon aquaculture means, and how it is done.
