Ryan Garcia, the rising boxing star, and his promoter, legendary fighter Oscar De La Hoya, engaged in a heated exchange on Twitter following Garcia's highly anticipated showdown with Gervonta Davis in April. The bout marked Garcia's first career defeat, reigniting the long-standing feud between the two.

Throughout their partnership, which commenced in November 2017 and has seen 18 fights thus far, Garcia and De La Hoya have experienced periods of public discord. However, tensions seemed to subside when the then-21-year-old Garcia inked a contract extension with Golden Boy Promotions in September 2019.

Garcia hailed the new deal as one of the most financially rewarding arrangements for a prospect in boxing history, seemingly putting an end to their animosity. Reflecting on the agreement, Garcia emphasized his commitment to Golden Boy, viewing the promotion as his family and expressing confidence in their ability to facilitate his journey towards stardom.

Nonetheless, intermittent exchanges of verbal jabs between Garcia and De La Hoya persisted over the years, both on social media and in the media. In a previous interview, De La Hoya had questioned Garcia's readiness to face Gervonta Davis, one of the sport's top talents.

Their clash finally materialized on April 22, resulting in Davis knocking down Garcia in the second round and ultimately securing victory with a body shot in the seventh round. This defeat marked a significant milestone for Garcia, as it was the first loss of his professional career.
