On March 11, 2017, J&M Diner, along with several other small businesses in the town of Framingham, Massachusetts, burned to the ground.

Diner owners Karen and Dave Fiore had never imagined such a horrific event.

“I never was prepared for something like this,” Dave says.

But the CrossFit community was.

The Fiores are members of Pennant CrossFit in Southborough, Massachusetts. After the fire, the affiliate’s owner, Dan Rogan, started a GoFundMe page and set the goal at US$5,000. Today, the total amount raised sits at more than $22,000.

“We weren’t really sure what our goal should be,” Rogan says. “We felt, let’s aim small and then see where it goes from there.”

The affiliate also hosted a fundraiser in support of the Fiores and the rebuilding of J&M Diner, a favorite food spot for many in the CrossFit community. The support was overwhelming.

“We just want to thank everyone,” Dave said to the crowd at the fundraiser. “Insurance doesn’t pay for this kind of stuff. You can’t buy this kind of stuff.”
