video thumbnail
Sandy Carter, chair of the WITI board, discusses why it’s beneficial to be a woman in technology. In this video she divulges five career hacks to help you become successful.

Sandy begins by discussing why women hold more bachelor’s degrees than men and why women in leadership positions have a higher return on equity and shareholders. According to statistics, women entrepreneurs are 15 percent more profitable than men. The following are five career hacks that Sandy shares with the audience:

Act like an open API (Application Program Interface) - This action causes revenue to be higher and expands your reach in order to engage more people.
Be intentional about your social media influence - Strive for higher productivity.
To win the hard sale, show a soft side - A soft side makes a difference; be who you are.
Homework is not a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) point - You must be prepared with the right skills and keep them relevant. Set a “stretch goal” for what you must accomplish.
Lifelong relationships are the breakaway play - Build relationships for what you can get out of them, as well as for what you can give.

Sandy concludes her time on stage by discussing how she promotes success with her own daughters and encourages them to strive to be the next generation of women in technology.
