Saskia has experienced first-hand how life sciences and technology have become strongly intertwined. Many years of scientific breakthroughs have played a role in drastically changing her field of scientific expertise. This has allowed researchers to maximise the use of state-of-the-art equipment in order to delve deeper in bioscience research, leading to new crucial scientific results.


Saskia Lippens is a molecular biologist trained at Ghent University. From her post-doctoral studies, she developed a special taste for technology. Today she co-manages VIB’s cutting edge platform called Bio-Imaging Core. They offer specialised instrumentation and services for both light - and electron microscopy.
