On this episode of Autism Live: Autism Mom Shannon Penrod talks via Skype with a teenager on the Autism spectrum about how she found out about her diagnosis and what her goals are now. During real progress with Dr. Adel, Dr. Adel Najdowski shares a great tool for challenging behavior: a Behavior Intervention Plan Builder that is based on evidence based practices. Dr. Adel also answers questions about building social and language skills during the summer both in a camp setting and at home. Shannon answers a question about IEPs and fears that a school will recommend a different setting if a parent asks for too much. During Breaking it Down with Angela, BCBA Angela Persicke talks about effective strategies for dealing with challenging behavior based on the function of the behavior.
