In the Chargers only two previous AFC Championship Games before 1994 they lost both. However, in the Steel City their fortune changed as they defeated the Steelers in a tough and physical battle that was highlighted by a game-winning goal line stand. The win sent San Diego to its first ever Super Bowl appearance.
