Caesar and Christ by Will Durant | Book Summary

video thumbnail
I read this book about a month ago and I couldn’t find a way to apply to my channel. But in reality, this book isn’t about religion or Romans, it’s a book about civilization. ✅2 FREE AUDIOBOOKS✅ https://amzn.to/2Enayo8¬¬¬

1. Big Moments in History always repeat themselves
- It might not be the same things that lead to a big even happening
- But more than often they end up repeating themselves
- For example, the more you study history, the more you’ll see the similarities in things today.

Here are a few:
- Virus today: In roman history, there was a plague that took over 5k people every single day, that hows tragic it was
- Riots: Their’s a lot of point in history that leads minorities or people that underrepresented to go ahead and protest. Since the beginning of time
- The country being in Debt: to the extent, we are not it's unheard of in history. But there were a lot of countries prior that fell because of poor money management skills

Overall:
- The basic idea is if you wanna know where we are going
- You have to know where we’re been before
- Because of a lot of problems that we have today, we have solutions that in the past. Not just big problems but also small ones.

Tip: Just listening to people can lead to following an agenda that you know nothing about, so its important the issues from the core.

2. The Stream Life Lessons
- Now this is more philosophy which is something that rarely teaches us today
- But it’s the idea to be a stream of water in the way you face your life

For example:
- A stream of water will keep following, not matter if a person screams at it, or even curses at it
- And when the person throws dirt to dirty the water, the stream keeps flowing and also cleans itself quickly
- Now this example sounds strange today

But overall:
- The idea is that you as a person have to keep going
- And not worry about what the other person is doing or what they wish for you
-

3. Understanding Money

- You would be surprised that even back in Roman days they had problems with inflation
- And they even had a treasury to try to keep control of it
- However, obviously, it's not as good as we have today

However:
- The Roman Republic operated from a perspective of we make this much and we spend this much
- They also diluted the value of money by replacing how much gold it content
- They also talk about moneylender, and dangers of borrowing big sums of money

Overall:
- Once you start to read this book, you’ll understand why the modern world operates the way it operates
- And also how a lot of rules about the money they have back then are the ones we have today
- However, we just improved on them 10x
