Mitchel S. Berger, MD, FAANS, FACS, presided over the AANS Annual Scientific Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, April 27 - May 1, 2013. In his Presidential Address, he discusses his theme of "Changing Our Culture to Advance Patient Safety," highlighting the need for teamwork and communication throughout all points of patient care. Following the meeting, Dr. Berger concluded his one-year presidential term and was named past president of the AANS.
