Webinar: Inclusivity in academic science |
|
The Donders Institute Diversity and Sustainable Science committee hosted a webinar on inclusion in academic science.
During the session, diversity and inclusion within academic research is explored. Past research into the ways in which people working in research experience harm and loss of opportunity due to one or several elements of their identity, such as race, gender, sexuality, and disability status is synthesised. Moreover, examples of bias, discrimination, and micro-aggressions in academic science are highlighted, and suggestions made for ways in which to improve inclusivity in our workplace and interactions.
