Gender Equality and Women Empowerment |
|
Presentation
Despite the place gender equality and women empowerment holds in development goals, equality between genders is still globally elusive. The discrimination specifically against girls and women - including economic discrimination, gender-based violence, harmful conventional practices and reproductive health inequities - remains the most persistent and pervasive form of inequality. The injustices experienced as a result of gender inequality is further exacerbated during humanitarian crises as currently being seen in the case of COVID-19. The question now is, “Is the Sustainable Development Goal 5 achievable?’’ Esther Adekunbi proposes how Education can act as a determinant to the achievement of Gender Equality and Women Empowerment. |
