In 2023, Novak Djokovic became the world number one after winning the Australian Open. The Serb is slightly ahead of 19-year-old Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in second place. Tennis legends such as Jimmy Connors, Björn Borg, John McEnroe, Ivan Lendl, Stefan Edberg and Pete Sampras are among the players to have been ranked number one at the end of the year in the ATP Ranking. In the 21st century, the year-end leaders in ATP Tour have been Lleyton Hewitt, Andy Roddick, Andy Murray and, of course, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
