2023 NEW Changan Qiyuan A07 in-depth Walkaround

Qiyuan, a new brand operating under Changan, was initially known by the code "OX." The Changan Qiyuan A07 presents an appealing exterior design featuring a sleek LED running lights strip, retractable door handles, stylish five-spoke 245/45 R19 wheels, and a gently sloping roofline. While its aesthetics are attractive, there's a noteworthy drawback to this design – the Qiyuan A07 bears a resemblance to several Chinese sedans, including the likes of the BYD Han, Nio ET7, Rising F7, Dayun Yuanhang Y6, and more. This similarity makes it somewhat challenging to distinguish the specific model when viewed from the side. The Qiyuan A07's dimensions measure 4905/1910/1480 mm with a wheelbase of 2900 mm, making it 90 mm shorter and 10 mm lower than the BYD Han EV.

Moving to the interior, the Qiyuan A07 is equipped with a D-shaped two-spoke steering wheel featuring the Qiyuan logo, which symbolizes a binary code. Behind the steering wheel, you'll find a Face-ID sensor and a gear shifter. Notably, the A07 skips the traditional instrument panel in favor of a Head-Up Display (HUD), a trend many Chinese automakers embrace. The center console is dominated by a large floating screen with a diameter exceeding 15 inches. Below the screen, there's a center tunnel housing two wireless phone charging pads and a pair of cup holders. It's worth highlighting that the A07's interior boasts an elegant wooden trim and the front pillars and roof are luxuriously covered with microfiber.

In terms of its powertrain, the Qiyuan A07 is built on the EPA1 platform, which it shares with the Deepal SL03. The EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle) version incorporates a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine generating 88 hp. It's essential to note that this engine doesn't directly drive the wheels; instead, it acts as a generator to charge the battery. On the electric side, the motor delivers 218 hp, and there's an all-electric version with two optional electric motors, producing either 218 or 258 hp. Battery options include 58 kWh (providing 515 km according to CLTC standards) and 80 kWh (offering a range of 710 km).
