Bozeman City Commission will have final say in future of Guthrie housing development |
|
Bozeman’s City Commission voted to reclaim approval of a controversial prospective housing development.
The motion passed unanimously Tuesday evening, taking authority from the Community Development Department and putting it in the hands of the Commission to decide whether construction of The Guthrie will move forward. Plans for the prospective project call for construction of a 50,000-square-foot, five-story building at the intersection of North Fifth and Villard streets in midtown Bozeman. If the project moves forward, developers would be making use of the city’s deep incentives by making 56 of the proposed 111 units affordable. Those incentives allow for deviation from city code, enabling the building to be an additional two stories in height and have no minimum parking requirement.
