Bran Castle Romania | Inside Dracula's Castle in Transylvania |
|
Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle) is the most famous landmark in central Romania, attracting growing numbers of foreign tourists thanks to its connection with the world's most famous vampire, Count Dracula. Bran Castle is a historic citadel located on the border of Transylvania and Wallachia. It was built on the site of a stronghold dating back to 1212 and was first documented in 1377. The castle overlooks Bran's picturesque village. The village features an open-air Ethnographic Museum. It consists of old-style village houses furnished with household objects and costumes.
Vlad the Impaler, also known as Vlad III Dracula, was a significant figure in Wallachian history. His rule in the 15th century was marked by his infamous bloodlust and brutal tactics, such as impaling his enemies on the battlefield. Bram Stoker's 1897 novel 'Dracula' was inspired by Vlad the Impaler, and the castle is popularly known as 'Dracula's Castle.' However, the name 'Dracula' derives from the Crusader Order of the Dragon, with which both Vlad Tepes and his father were associated. Vlad's father was a member of the order named Vlad Dracul, and his son was known as Vlad Dracula. The castle is owned by Queen Marie's descendants, who received the fortress in 1920 as a gesture of appreciation for her efforts to unite Romania. After her, Princess Ileana inherited the castle and used it as a hospital during World War II. 1948, the Communist regime seized the castle, but it was eventually returned to Dominic von Habsburg, Princess Ileana's son, in 2006. Today, Bran Castle is a museum open to tourists, offering 57 rooms, many of which are connected by underground passages. The castle's rooms feature collections of furniture, weapons, and armor dating from the 14th through the 19th centuries. A secret passageway leads to the terrace beneath the watchtower. The hidden passage connects the first and third floors of the fortification and was first discovered during renovations in 1927. From a fortress to a castle to a royal residence and a communist holding, Bran Castle has remained a towering example of Romanian fortitude and heritage, bringing in 800,000 visitors a year. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Music: Forest of Fear - Aakash Gandhi Invincible - Aakash Gandhi Tragic Story - Myuu Sound effect: Hallow Wind - YouTube Audio Library ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you like what you see, subscribe and click the bell to enable notifications for more travel videos. https://www.youtube.com/verynicetravel I really appreciate your support! ❤️❤️❤️ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The content of this channel, including: videos and images must not be downloaded for the purpose of being re-uploaded to YouTube or another 3rd party website or apps.
