Halloween in Russia: a western invasion or just a holiday? |

Halloween originated in Celtic countries and then reached its development in the United States. As a result of globalisation, this holiday came to Russia and became quite popular with young people here. We have the same symbols: pumpkins, decorations and costume parties. For us it's just a reason to create costumes and have fun. However, some people in Russia think that Halloween is replacing our Russian traditions and identity. In fact, there are some traditional Slavic holidays that look similar to Halloween, such as Kupala Night or Svyatki. Unfortunately, Russian people almost don't celebrate them anymore, while Halloween is becoming more and more popular in this country. Do you celebrate Halloween?
