Doorvest is an online platform that helps first time property investors source, buy, renovate, rent, and manage their investment property. It's a one-stop shop that removes much of the hassle of buying real estate, but is it worth it?

Doorvest is a good option to explore for first time homebuyers because it provides training wheels for new investors. There are many steps in the real estate investing process, and often times its easy to make mistakes, whether its buying the wrong home, not getting it inspected, finding bad contractors or trying to self-manage and doing it poorly.

The trade-off is higher than average property management fees at 15% and lower cash on cash returns than I would personally target, but buying with Doorvest still gives you all the other benefits of real estate investing, including appreciation, equity build-up, and tax write-offs!
