How to Make Playdough! Cooked so No Raw Flour! |
![]() |
Kids LOVE playdough! There's something special about the smell and feel of warm freshly made dough. I like this recipe because it cooks the flour a bit so it’s safer for kids than recipes with uncooked flour.
Playdough Recipe Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour ¾ cup salt 4 teaspoons cream of tartar 2 cups lukewarm water 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil Food coloring (as much as desired) Directions: In a large pot, stir together the flour, salt, and cream of tartar. Add the water and oil. If you’re only making one color of dough, you can stir in the food coloring now. Cook over medium heat, stirring almost constantly. Continue stirring until the dough has thickened and begins to form into a ball (don’t worry if it’s forming lumps, it’s just the dough that has already cooked). Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly. Divide into balls if you’d like more than one color of dough. Make a hole in each ball and add food coloring. Seal up the hole and knead the ball until the color is fully incorporated. Store the dough in an airtight container and the playdough can last for a few months. I throw it away when I see any signs of mold. |
