I MOVED FROM NORWAY TO ENGLAND or ‘Worst’ Decision Ever. How It Feels to Live in the UK after NORWAY

video thumbnail
Let’s take a walk around Bristol - the city where I currently live in England and talk how different Life in England from Life in Norway?
How does it feel to live in the UK after almost 3 years of livinh in Norway?

⏱⏱⏱ TIME CODES:
00:00 - Moving From Norway to The UK - welcome to England!
01:26 1️⃣ Everything is open on Sunday in England. Even the Largest Supermarkets
02:50 2️⃣ Small Talk in the UK and its importance
03:51 3️⃣ People are very friendly in the UK
05:19 4️⃣ People Mind Their Own Business in the UK - NO ONE Cares about YouTubers in Bristol
05:57 5️⃣ It Is VERY QUIET In Bristol at Night - I’m surprised!
07:28 6️⃣ Vibrant British Life and You Don’t Need to Cook in Britain
08:53 7️⃣ Going back to Norway to live? Why Norway is the best country to live

In this video:

1️⃣ everything is open on Sunday - even the largest supermarkets.

Fine, the largest supermarkets are open until 4pm. But still! They are open on Sunday!

They also have a huge department with alcohol!
I know it sounds normal to you if you watch me from outside Norway. But in Norway the only place to buy any alcohol stronger than bear will be government owned chain Vinmonopolet.
And no chance you’ll get that alcohol on Sunday - as it’s also closed.

2️⃣ SMALL TALK in the UK is everywhere

In Norway - you don’t do small talk
In England - you do small talk all the time

Small talk matters a lot in England.

3️⃣ People are so friendly in the UK

When you live in London everyone is so busy with their own life so no one cares about other people. No one is asking you any questions.

Here if you need any help people are actually willing to help you.

Eye contact. If in Norway people trying to avoid an eye contact at any cost - I mean when walk on the street - and even if it happens and you established this eye contact with Norwegian - it will take them literally a second to move their eyes away from me.

4️⃣ British People Mind Their Own Business: no one cares about me vlogging in the UK

5️⃣ It Is VERY QUIET In Bristol at Night - I’m surprised!

By the way - have you been to Bristol?
it’s about 120 miles away from London which is 1 hours 30 mins by train and the population of Bristol in 2021 was 466k people - want to know more?

Daytime is a different story:
I can hear police and other sirens quite often

Also lots of construction going on - like this building right in front of the house where I live. From Monday to Friday daytime you can clearly hear that they are working hard.

6️⃣ talking about vibrant British life and leaving in the middle of the shopping mall.
It feels so different to keep cooking.

All this little places, all this cafes and restaurants where you can get your lunch sorted for just £8. And they all so close - literally just around the corner!

Only in Oslo and actually never in Kongsberg. Maximum what I was having was my favourite soya cappuccino with vegan brownie in Espresso House.

7️⃣ Let’s talk about internal feeling after moving from Norway to England.. do I have any intentions to go back to Norway - yes and no.

Short term - yes ! Absolutely! 100%, hopefully even this summer if I have enough time.
But for a week or a long weekend and mainly as a tourist.

But definitely not for living in Norway. Not now

I have to admit that I do miss Norway, my Norwegian dear friends and Norwegian life style a lot.

In fact, Norway is the best country to live! Why Norway is the best country to live:
1. Health system in Norway is great
2. Ecological situation in Norway is great - drinkable tap water, clean air, lots of forests, lakes
3. Climate in Norway - the winter is not too cold but with lots of snow - and my favourite part that you can actually feel every single season.
4. People in Norway respect each other and each other’s privacy.
5. The balance between your personal and professional life in Norway. Norway taught me that nothing can be more important than your health and family and no career would ever compare to this. We work to live, we don’t live to work - thank you Norway for the lesson!
