DCE meets Medellín and the Metropolitan Area of Valle de Aburrá to strengthen their bicycle-sharing system “En Cicla” and cycling infrastructure, policy, and practices.
The Metropolitan Area of the Valle de Aburrá —the second most populated metropolitan area in Colombia— recently launched its Mobility Master Plan for the next 10 years. This Master Plan seeks to reach inclusion and sustainability. To achieve this, it is necessary to articulate the Medellín Metro (the core city of the metropolitan area) with new active-mobility networks. The experts invited to this virtual session focused in four topics: 1. Good design practices for bicycle infrastructure. 2. Gender inclusion to ensure and support women to use the bicycle as a safe mean of transport. 3. Architectural design and infrastructure for bicycle parking facilities. 4. E-bikes and bicycle-sharing systems. |
