Schwinn 470 Elliptical Review |
|
Our review of the Schwinn 470 elliptical can help you determine if this is the right elliptical for you.
Schwinn’s craftsmanship shows up best in the guts of this machine. And by guts, I mean the flywheel—a key fixture that supports your weight and sustains the pedaling motion. I thought it rode quietly and smoothly. Another engineering edge is that the apparatus itself is lightweight, weighing only 164 pounds, making it easy to wield around. A unique center post and multiple levelers are designed to keep the unit grounded, so the base doesn’t shift (sort of important!). The arms and leg joists weren’t as stable as I liked; they wobbled a bit when I really ramped up my speed and incline. That could be because the machine is held together mostly by nuts and bolts, rather than welded components. On the plus side, those connected joints do come pre-greased to help reduce friction that often occurs from rigorous, relentless riding. My advice: Don’t ride rigorously or relentlessly.
