Stuart Feather was a GLF activist and took part in the first public demonstration of homosexuals in the UK in 1970. His political autobiography was published in 2016. Feather was also a member 1977 - 1993 of the gay theatre group Bloolips, winners of a New York OBIE award in 1981. After the GLF Stuart taught himself the art of the painted finish, specialized in lacquer furniture and screens, producing pieces for most major Interior Designers in London. He used the money earned from this craftwork to underwrite his art and theatre work. Riding two horses he helped co-found, with Bette Bourne as artistic director, the Bloolips gay theatre troupe, touring throughout Europe, North America and Canada from 1977 to 1993.
