Making colour from bacteria | Karin Fleck | TEDxCanggu

video thumbnail
Karin Fleck is pioneering the future of colour. She has found a way to create colour from the waste product of bacteria, which can then be used in fabrics, food colouring, paint and a whole host of things. This is a real solution to end fashions devastating impact on our limited and precious freshwater resource. Karin Fleck is Founder and CEO of the Vienna Textile Lab, an innovative start-up that fabricates organic colours made from harmless naturally occurring bacteria in order to provide the most sustainable, wholesome and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional synthetic dyes. Working with partners in academia and designers, she is creating a unique solution for the second largest pollution problem in the industry. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
