High pressure is declining and low pressure is moving in from off the Atlantic...

Today:

Wednesday begins with a band of quite heavy rain through western Scotland and Northern Ireland. The rest of the country is dry with clear spells and variable cloud as well as patchy fog. The fog is dense in parts of eastern England.

Through the rest of the day the band of rain will push eastwards across the country but will fizzle out across England and Wales this afternoon. Sunny spells and showers will follow to Scotland and Northern Ireland. A very mild day in the south and east with temperatures of 10C to 14C but cooler to the north and west of 4C to 8C.

Tonight:

Another area of wet weather pushes eastwards across Northern Ireland, England and Wales giving the first rain of the month to much of southern England. Scotland will stay dry with clear spells. Colder here with temperatures around 0C but mild elsewhere with temperatures of 5C to 8C.

Tomorrow

A wet start to the day across England and Wales but most of the rain will become light and patchy before dying out. We will keep a lot of cloud and some drizzle in places through to the afternoon. Scotland and Northern Ireland will be brighter and drier until evening when it turns wet and windy. A very mild day with temperatures of 6C to 12C.

Outlook:

Friday: Mainly dry with sunny spells after a wet and windy night in the north. Mild in the south, cooler in the north.

Saturday: Mostly dry but quite cloudy. Mild or very mild.

Sunday: A dry day after overnight rain in the north. Mild or very mild.
