Good morning everyone and welcome to today's UK weather forecast on Monday 17th October 2022

Current Situation: A deep area of low pressure is sitting over northern Scotland today.

Today:

Monday begins windy in the north with gales around Irish Sea coasts and in land gusts of 30MPH. There's persistent rain in the far north of Scotland with showers around western coasts and more general rain clearing the south east corner. Elsewhere it's dry.

Through the rest of the day the wet weather will clear from the far north and south east corner with showers through western regions, some of them heavy and blustery. Central and eastern counties will stay mostly dry with sunny spells. Temperatures will range from 10C to 17C.

Tonight:

Showers will die out and most places become dry. With clearing skies and light winds mist and fog patches could develop. It will be quite a cold night with patchy frost in the north.

Tomorrow:

High pressure will dominate the weather so most places will be dry with sunny spells. Feeling quite warm in the October sunshine.

Outlook:

Wednesday: Another mostly dry day but rain in the south west later.

Thursday: Mainly dry and very warm but wet in the west later.

Friday: Winds and rain moving in from the west.
