When not to go with the flow | Silas Serafim | TEDxAUEB

video thumbnail
To flow or not to flow, that is the question. In other words, to flow with the world or not? It’s good to limp in a country of one legged men, or so the saying goes. On the other hand, where would humanity be and how would history play out if some people didn't challenge the norms? If Galileo wasn’t curious? If Picasso wasn’t bold? If Lenin wasn’t driven? The trick isn’t to not go with the flow. The trick is to swim upstream when needed and to be the one that turns the tide.

Born in Komotini. Studied acting at the National Theatre of Northern Greece and economics at the School of Business Administration and Liberal Arts. He's been in plays, movies, TV shows and commercials while being one of the first stand up comedians in Greece; an art form he still serves to this day. He has in fact, taught stand up comedy and public speech at the Theatre of Change. His broadcasting experience includes radio shows on ERA Sport, The 1st Channel of Greek Public Radio and Kosmos FM. He also co-hosts the current affairs show “Studio 3” on ERT and has his own YouTube show, “In The Mind of Silas” on ComedyLab.gr.

His stand up shows started 20 years ago, with “Comedy Nights” - the first stand up comedy show in Greece. Since then he has performed at the House Of Art, the Modern Theatre of Athens, the Badminton Theatre, Tin Pan Alley as well as many venues throughout Greece and has just completed a tour of the UK, performing in Manchester, Edinburgh and London.
