Dark Secrets of Amitabh and Rekha’s Love Affair. Bollywood is a place where relations are made and broken every now and then. But the unfortunate love story of Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan is still remembered by people. Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan first met in the year 1976 on the sets of Do Anjaane. It is said that they fall in love with each other at the set of that movie. As Amitabh was married the, they decided to keep their relation a secret from the world. As their affair was secret at that time, they used to meet each other secretly in many private places. During the initial days of their relation they used to meet at an apartment. According to India Today, the apartment belonged to one of Rekha’s friend and it was situated at Bandra. Everything was smooth until an incident happened during the shoot of ‘Ganga ki Saugandh’. As Times of India reported, a co-actor of the film was disturbing Rekha and also misbehaved with her. Big B lost his temper on the co-actor during shoot which made their relationship to come into light. There were speculations doing rounds about Amitabh and Rekha’s secret marriage which caught more fire at Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh’s wedding. According to a leading daily, at that wedding party, Rekha appeared wearing Sindur and Mangalsutra raising many eyebrows. Everyone’s attention in that wedding reception, shifted towards Rekha who was talking to Amitabh only. This bold step of Rekha answered many unanswered questions about their secret relationship. According to bollywoodshaadis.com, Jaya came to know about their affair through Rishi Kapoor wedding and after that she even invited Rekha home for dinner. She candidly told Rekha that she would never leave her husband whatever may happen. Looks like she has kept her promise and is still happily married with him. Rekha then realized that either she would be Mrs. Bachchan or she would remain single. Rekha’s marriage with Mukhesh Agarwal lasted less than 1 year as her husband committed suicide but she still wears Sindoor. Many people believe that she wears the Sindoor for Big B as she considers him her husband. When asked by a reporter, Rekha said that she wears it because she thinks Sindoor looks beautiful on her and she doesn’t care about people’s reaction. She has been wearing Sindoor for more than two decades till now Veteran director Yash Chopra casted Amitabh, Jaya and Rekha in his movie ‘Silsila’ which was about love-triangle.
According to Daily Hunt, Yash Chopra also admitted that Big B and Rekha were too much in love with each other before ‘Silsila’. Many people believed that in ‘Silsila’, Amitabh’s real life was put into movie. Yash Chopra also admitted that it was real life coming into reel life as Jaya was playing his wife and Rekha was playing his girlfriend. But after this movie we never saw the iconic chemistry between these two as Jaya forbade Amitabh to do movies with her. Amitabh Bachchan always denied his affair with Rekha, however Rekha was always outspoken about her love for him. Rekha wanted to marry Amitabh but according to a report of a news daily, the actor was not ready to marry her. Big B didn’t want the tag of ‘womanizer’ in his life so he denied marrying her. Rekha realized that he is no mood to leave his wife Jaya and settle down with her. She understood that inspite of being in love, Amitabh wouldn’t marry her as Big B is image conscious.
