On writing your own obituary Jann Freed is a speaker and a leadership development consultant with the Genysys Group. Jann assists organizations in improving employee engagement, helping leaders navigate change, and developing employees to be leaders. She assists organizations in improving employee engagement, developing leaders, and helping employees find meaning and purpose. Jann is a Professor Emerita of Business Management at Central College in Pella, Iowa, where she held the Mark and Kay De Cook Endowed Chair in Leadership and Character Development. In addition to authoring and co-authoring books on leadership and continuous improvement, Jann hosts a podcast series titled Becoming a Sage. She also writes a column for Training Magazine titled, “Leading the Edge.” Jann is an adjunct professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Iowa. She has a B.A. from Central College, an MBA from Drake University, and a Ph.D. from Iowa State University. Jann lives in Des Moines with her husband, John Fisher, and they have three adult sons.
