Belgian filmmaker #LukasDhont was back in Cannes on Thursday (May 26) to premiere his sophomore feature "Close".

The 31-year-old director won the Camera d'Or award for the best directorial debut at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival with his first full-length movie "Girl", a drama about a transgender teenage girl's quest to become a ballerina.

Dhont walked the Cannes red carpet on Thursday night for the world premiere of "Close" which is one of 21 films vying for the festival's top prize, the Palme d'Or.

"Close" centres around the friendship of two 13-year-old boys, Leo, played by Eden Dambrine, and Remi, who is played by Gustav De Waele. Actress Emilie Dequenne stars as Remi's mother, Sophie.

The winners of this year's Cannes Film Festival will be revealed on Saturday (May 28).
