LIVE RESULTS—GEORGIA SENATE RUNOFF RACES: Polls have closed and results from both of Georgia’s runoff races for U.S. Senate seats are being reported—and we’re tracking them all here.

The election has become the center of America’s political universe, with the control of the U.S. Senate hanging in the balance. Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler, who was appointed to her seat and never elected, is facing a challenge from Rev. Raphael Warnock, a Democrat and pastor at Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church, the ‘spiritual home’ of Martin Luther King Jr. ‘He’s a man of great moral integrity, a leader in the truest sense of the word,’ former President Barack Obama said of Warnock. ‘You don’t find a lot of people in Washington like Rev. Warnock, and that’s exactly why we’ve got to get him there.’

Republican Sen. David Perdue is facing a challenge from Jon Ossoff, an investigative journalist who interned for the late civil rights icon Rep. John Lewis, who supported both Ossoff’s Senate bid and his failed 2017 race for a U.S. House seat. ‘He has the energy to lead us to a better place,’ Lewis said at a rally in 2019. ‘We need his voice.’

More than 3 million people voted early, either by mail or in-person at early voting locations, already setting a turnout record for a statewide runoff election in Georgia, even without taking into account those who voted today.
