The Path of the Ronin | Miyamoto Musashi |
|
Miyamoto Musashi was a Japanese swordsman, philosopher, strategist, writer and ronin, who became renowned through his undefeated record in 61 duels. Before he died, he wrote 'the Book of Five Rings', which contains a series of philosophical insights into his swordsmanship and life in general.
In 1599, Musashi left his village to engage in a series of duels to hone his craft, which culminated in his most famous battle in 1611 against another formidable opponent, Sasaki Kojiro. He used a wooden sword carved out from the oar of the boat he was travelling in and defeated his enemy with one decisive strike, and just escaping death with a missed strike. In this video, we delve deeper into his ideas and how we can utilize them in our current life today. |
