Current Situation: A ridge of high pressure is still dominating the weather from off the Atlantic but northern regions have got a shallow trough of low pressure pushing eastwards...

Today:

Friday begins with outbreaks of rain across Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England. The rest of England and Wales is dry with the best of the sunshine in the south and south east.

Through the rest of the day wet weather clears away from the north but there will be further showers especially for north east England. The majority of the country will stay dry with plenty of sunshine in the south and west. Temperatures will range from 16C to 25C north to south.


Tonight:

Most places will be dry with long clear spells especially in the south. Patchy rain is possible for western Scotland. Temperatures will be pleasantly fresh at 7C to 15C.

Tomorrow:

Patchy rain continues for western Scotland but the rest of the country will stay dry with long spells of sunshine. Very warm temperatures of 18C to 27C.

Outlook:

Sunday: Dry, sunny and hot.

Monday: Exceptionally hot with temperatures possibly reaching 39C (101F)

Tuesday: Dangerously hot with temperatures potentially reaching 40C (103F) Thunderstorms in the west later.
