Over time that's bound to change, but in 2021 the Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric crossover SUV was revealed, offering a family-friendly size, decent electric driving range, lots of tech and safety, and a big interior with thoughtful inclusions and clever materials. Family reviewer Nedahl Stelio spent a week with the entry-level Hyundai Ioniq 5 RWD 160kW Ioniq 5, which in Australia - at the time of filming - had a list price of $71,900 (MSRP), a good $4000 less than the AWD Ioniq 5. That means the Ioniq 5 undercuts the likes of the Tesla Ioniq 5 X by almost $100,000, while also offering food for thought against the Audi e-tron, Mercedes-Benz EQC and BMW i4 SUV.
