A massive amount of change is coming to our health system in this era of digitization and democratization. However our systems of healthcare were designed some 150 years ago and were not built, nor groomed to adapt to change at this scale. Dr. Zayna Khayat, Future Strategist with SE Health, will explore how new digital tools, consumer pull and unsustainable business models are accelerating the shift towards the future of health(care) and what steps we can take now to accelerate the path to this future. Equal parts hustle, spirit and vision, here is Dr. Zayna Khayat. Dr. Zayna Khayat is the Future Strategist at SE Health (formerly, Saint Elizabeth Health Care). She is Faculty of Singularity University’ Exponential Medicine stream. In 2017 she was seconded from MaRS Discovery District, an innovation hub in Toronto, Canada to the REshape Health Innovation Centre at Radboud university medical centre in Nijmegan, Netherlands. At MaRS, Zayna lead the Health System Innovation platform from 2014 to 2017. Dr. Khayat is also an adjunct faculty with the Rotman School of Management in the Health Sector Strategy stream. Zayna completed her Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Toronto (2001), followed by a career in strategy consulting, including as a Principal in the healthcare practice of The Boston Consulting Group (BCG). She lives in Toronto with her partner and 3 children. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
