If you’ve ever been ignored by someone you’re in a relationship with, you know how frustrating and painful it can be.   It’s very much like experiencing physical pain but without any visible bruising.  It’s true..   Being ignored activates the anterior cingulate cortex – the part of the brain that detects and makes you feel physical pain. so, when you are being ignored you feel physical symptoms such as headaches, stomach pains, anxiety, and fatigue.  And in addition to physical and emotional pain, being ignored triggers anxiety and even the fight or flight response.

So why would a man do that to you and what is he thinking?  Well, there are 3 possible reasons in order from bad, to worse-
1. He’s just not that into you
This can be a difficult truth to accept. We often choose to believe that someone is just busy or naturally ‘bad’ at texting, and that is why they are ignoring us. But When a man cares about you and wants you, it’s usually very obvious because he makes it known beyond a shadow of a doubt.  He pursues you, he’s constantly texting you, calling you, wanting to see you.  ignoring you is the last thing he would ever do because he would be afraid of disappointing you or losing you. so, if he’s ignoring you, maybe he really isn’t concerned about your feelings or he’s just not that into you.
2. Maybe He’s trying to break up with you. 
Oftentimes someone you’re dating becomes distant because they’re afraid of the confrontation and having a difficult conversation with you. They would rather fade out of a relationship than end it properly. So, If you feel him pulling away and making excuses not to see you, then he may be using ignoring you as a break-up method. He’s hoping that you’ll eventually get fed up of being ignored and end the relationship yourself. Or you’ll just stop trying and the relationship will fizzle out without any kind of confrontation-  and lastly the worst reason for ignoring you-
3. He is trying to control or manipulate you in some way
The silent treatment is often used as a form of punishment or manipulation when a person is upset, angry, or disappointed.  And This is very damaging to the relationship because it is motivated by revenge and control.  So, he ignores you because he wants you to feel the pain that uncertainty provokes. He wants you to feel that anxiety and uncertainty..  he wants you to plead with him to communicate with you and so, he ignores you to gain some power and control over you.
Another form of manipulation - He could be ignoring you because he is playing games and pretending not to care. This is often the case when you have no idea why he’s ignoring you.  See At the beginning of a relationship, a man may believe he has to “play hard-to-get”  or pretend not to care in order to sustain your interest and get you wanting him more.
He purposefully ignores you or takes longer and longer to respond to you because he wants you to experience that uncertain, panicked response associated with rejection so that you’ll be more receptive to him when he does reply.
