|
JMU football made a strong statement in their 52-0 week one shutout versus Morehead state. for the first time in over 13 months, football returned to the Bridgeforth Stadium, and JMU made the wait all the more worthwhile following the dominant opening win.
but this is week two, Morehead State is gone and head coach Curt Cignetti isn’t letting the dukes sleep on the Robert Morris Colonials. Cignetti reminded fans during this week’s O'Neill's luncheon that the colonials won six of their final seven games last season, and have had their identity changed since hiring new head coach bernard Clark jr. not to mention, this is the season opener for Robert Morris, who are looking to start out their spring season strong and have every reason to want to send JMU into the ‘l’ column. in their last meeting back in 2018, the dukes destroyed Robert Morris 73-7. but, this is 2021, and with the shortened season… each game can’t be taken lightly. JMU senior safety MJ Hampton also addressed the press, expressing the importance of each individual game this season, given that just one loss can knock the dukes out of playoff contention and prevent them from going back to Frisco. the colonials and Dukes kick-off at Bridgeforth Dtadium at noon on Saturday, February 27. |
