US military loads and delivers 90 Stryker combat vehicles to Ukraine for the first time
The Pentagon announced a $2.5 billion Ukrainian security package, including Stryker armored vehicles and Bradley combat vehicles that could be used against Russian attacks on Ukraine this spring. The package, issued a day before an international coalition meeting in Germany to discuss aid to Ukraine, is the second largest ever announced by the United States. The US has now provided $26.7 billion to Ukraine in security assistance since the start of the war almost a year ago. Combined with Strykers, it marks a significant improvement in the armored vehicles that the US brought to Ukraine in its war against Russia. A mine-resistant ambush protection vehicle known as the MRAP is also on the list. The US has committed to deliver nearly 500 MRAPs to Ukraine to defend Ukrainian territory attacked by Russia.
