Here are 15 tips to build your bands audience via social media!

1. Find your platform - You don't need to be on all social media platforms, it's more important to pick the right ones for you and your skill set. Whether you relate to pics, words, audio or video there is a platform out there for you to engage with people!

2. Content is King - The better the content the more people will engage with it so keep the standards as high as you can.

3. ENGAGE! - Don't waste a single opportunity when someone writes on your wall or asks you something on social media.. Use it as an opportunity to build a relationship and show your audience you are there to chat to. Don't close the communication door!

4. Consistency is key - Post regularly and don't go missing.. I hate hearing 'Sorry haven't posted for a while'!

5. Youtube is better than you think - Youtube is the most under utilised platform for musicians and bands. The reason is because its the 2nd biggest search engine on the internet and with the right search terms you can be 'discovered' by the industry and fans. Think carefully about search terms!

6. Build content that can be broken down into sub content. A live gig can be broken down into content for several other platforms.

7. Play each SM platforms Game - It's their house so abide by their rules when you are there... some allow you to put your feet up on the couch and others don't... Learn their house rules and they will help you build quicker!

8. Creativity is what social media is for... The more creative you can be the more people will share and engage. Posting another vid of you in your bedroom playing Uptown Funk isn't good enough.

9. Collaborate - Collabs are the quickest way to grow an audience on social media by getting your brand/content in front of other audiences.. grab other bands or personalities and make content together!

10. FB ads are not the problem you are! Don't make assumptions that these don't work... learn how to advertise properly to a targeted audience. Look at your insights to see who that is!

11. Making great content is great but distribution needs more time spent on it than creating... Tell the world about your content at any given opportunity.. add links on your email, socials, tell your friends, shout it from the rooftops!

12. Live is your new stage - All of the platforms are desperate for you to 'Go Live' and your fanbase will appreciate the difference between being live rather than pre making content.

13. It takes a lot of content to piss someone off so stop thinking you shouldn't make too much content.. if you are losing audience due to content it's more likely to be bad content rather than too much.

14. Build relationships 1 at a time and don't keep throwing things at people. It's called 'SOCIAL' media so be social and talk to people.

15. Think long term, this is a marathon not a race so stop trying to build your million followers in a week or one post! It will take years but with these rules and great content as well as something to say you can build an engaged excitable happy community!
