The new Qashqai is the first European model to be equipped with Nissan's e-POWER powertrain. It is a key element of the brand's electrification strategy, offering a more responsive, quiet and efficient ride.

The e-POWER system consists of a high-power battery supplemented by a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo gasoline engine with a variable compression ratio generating 158hp. The power unit also includes an electric generator, inverter and a 190 HP electric motor, similar in size and power to units typical for Nissan electric cars. The gasoline engine produces electricity that can be transferred by an inverter directly to the battery, electric motor, or both, depending on your needs.

The sole drive for the wheels is the electric motor, which makes the system responsive instantly and smoothly. It is therefore an attractive alternative to traditional hybrid systems, where drivers have to accept the inconvenience in terms of the driving experience.

The new e-POWER driveline on the Qashqai is designed to provide the pleasant, quiet and smooth ride typical of all-electric vehicles, but without the need to recharge the battery.

Like the LEAF, the e-POWER system on the New Nissan Qashqai provides the rider with a new driving experience thanks to e-Pedal Step technology. It was designed to eliminate the tiring necessity of frequently shifting your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal during acceleration and braking in the city. The e-Pedal Step system allows you to accelerate and brake using only the accelerator pedal.

The e-Pedal Step must be activated using a switch on the center console. Activating the mode does not affect the characteristics of the gas pedal - its operation does not change. By relieving the pressure on the accelerator pedal, the e-Pedal Step will brake the car with a force of 0.2 g, which is enough for the brake lights to come on. The car will slow down until it reaches the “creep” speed without coming to a complete stop. This solution ensures smooth parking maneuvers at low speed. Drivers quickly get used to adjusting the pressure on the accelerator pedal, ensuring a smooth ride, which becomes both more intuitive and less demanding.
