TEDxWilliamsport - Dr. Eddie Severn - What the Arts Can Teach Us

video thumbnail
With a career spanning more than 25 years, British jazz musician Eddie Severn is an internationally recognized performing artist and composer. He has performed with numerous well-known musicians and groups notably saxophonists Phil Woods and Dave Liebman, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and the Temptations. Eddie holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Salford in Manchester, and has held teaching positions at the Birmingham Conservatoire of Music England, and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. He has recently begun to take his extensive experience as a performer and educator in the world of music to teach leadership and management skills to business and community leaders. In this talk he defines the parallels between the seemingly disparate worlds of business and music.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
