It’s the moment we have all been waiting for…Leonardo Dicaprio finally won the Oscar for best actor at this year’s Academy Awards!
Leo finally took home the gold winning best actor in a leading role for his work in Revenant, Leo received a standing ovation from the crowd.
After 6-nominations, Leonardo DiCaprio took home his first Academy Award! There was so much build up, every was waiting on what he would say in his speech.
He thanked the director and co-star Tom Hardy for his "fierce talent on screen" and "friendship off screen as well as several influential people he’s worked weith like Martin Scorsese, and his poarents, who he ahs thanked in every winning speech during this award show season.

And after he thanked those that helped him get to this pinnacle moment, he decided to use the national platform to talk about an issue he has worked tirelessly to combat for years- global warming.
Leo’s win marked the third of the night for The Revenant, which also beat out the competition for best director and cinematography. And fun fact- It has been 22 years since Leo was first nominated for an Academy Award, having been nominated for best supporting actor for What's Eating Gilbert Grape.
